Sonora is not just another expression in the Garrison Brothers lineup – it represents a groundbreaking achievement for women in a traditionally male-dominated industry. In March 2022, Garrison Brothers filled 30 53-gallon rye whiskey barrels with 4-year-old Garrison Brothers Texas Straight Bourbon Whiskey. Three years later, that very bourbon has matured into something extraordinary: Sonora. Guided by the hands of Garrison Brothers’ own Samantha Olvera, the first female Latina in Texas to craft bourbon from grain to glass, along with Nancy Garrison, Garrison Brothers Distillery Co-Founder, and the many talented women at Garrison Brothers, Sonora celebrates their strength, vision and collaboration. On the nose, rich aromas of sweet corn, oak, and rye spices mingle with vanilla and butterscotch. The palate bursts with black pepper and cinnamon, followed by a bouquet of citrus zest, almond tea and wildflower honey. The lingering finish evokes brown sugar and crème brûlée.
