This classic holiday beverage is best served piping hot.

This recipe serves 6.

Heat the wine in a large pot over low heat. Squeeze the juice from ½ of the orange into the pot. Add the other ½ of the orange, cut into slices, to the pot. Add the brown sugar, cloves, cinnamon stick, ginger, orange liqueur and vanilla extract and continue to heat, stirring until the brown sugar dissolves. Simmer on low for about an hour. Strain into glass goblets or mugs to serve. Garnish with cinnamon sticks and orange slices.
