Cupid's Cloud merges the elements of the heart all in one cocktail. Smoky and fiery meets sweet and subtle, this cocktail pulls out the softer side of an Old-Fashioned, encompassing the traditional taste of whisky with a sweeter side.
May your love flow like Umiki Japanese Whisky, the base spirit of this drink made with pure ocean water that gives Cupid’s Cloud a rounded floral taste and a soothing freshness in the finish. The cherry-lavender syrup and hibiscus bitters pull in more fruity and floral notes of the whisky as well. The blend of hibiscus, açai berry and long pepper from Bittermens Burlesque Bitters creates a fragrant aroma and a tantalizing tart sourness that will make you pucker without a sweet kiss.
Add all ingredients to a mixing glass, then add ice and stir for around 30 seconds or until 30% dilution is reached. Then strain over a large ice cube in an Old-Fashioned glass. Garnish with fresh cherries and a ribbon of rhubarb.
Cherry-lavender syrup: Add 1 cup water, 1 cup sugar, 1 cup pitted fresh cherries and 1 tablespoon of dried lavender buds to a medium saucepan. Heat on medium-high until all the sugar is dissolved. Remove from the heat and let the mixture steep for 10 minutes. Then strain the mixture, gently pressing all the juice out of the cherries. Store syrup in a food safe container for up to 2 weeks.
