Hourly Rate

  • Statewide locations = $11.00/hr
  • Northern VA locations =13.15/hr

This is an hourly position which does not include employee state benefits. This position is limited to a maximum of 29 hours scheduled per work week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Learn VA ABC's full product portfolio to provide customers with best shopping experience and connect them to the right product (s)
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by greeting and establishing a rapport with customers while informing them of our products and services
  • Project a positive shopping experience and act quickly to resolve customer questions and concerns.
  • Checking IDs & observing customers to determine legality of sales
  • Learn new technology
  • Maintain store visual presentation according to the VA ABC merchandising guidelines
  • Maintain shelf stock & displays to enhance product availability
  • Operating an electronic POS (point of sale)terminal to include scanning equipment
  • Perform accurate cashier functions and account for personal cash shortages
  • Assisting customers with loading merchandise as requested
  • Unloading shipments & the placement of stock within the stockroom
  • Accurately assembling & verifying licensee orders
  • Maintain store safety standards
  • Ownership of store cleanliness and assist in maintain standards throughout the store


Job Requirement:


  • Applicants must be at least 21 years of age
  • Ability to effectively lift and physically maneuver at least 65lbs on a repetitive basis
  • Experience working with the general public
  • Ability to work in a flexible schedule as business requires
  • Ability to use technology applicable to the position and to complete daily responsibilities
  • Experience working in a team environment requiring professional and effective communication skills
  • Desire to continually develop retail sales skills and knowledge of product and services
  • Strong interpersonal skills necessary for establishing customer and team relationships
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, multi tasked environment


Preferred Experience and Skills:


  • Some working experience as a store associate or customer service representative is a plus
  • Experience with an electronic point of sale systems (POS) activities or scanning equipment
  • Experience working in an alcohol beverage industry (i.e. liquor store, bar, vendor rep or establishment that sells alcoholic products)


Schedule Requirements


  • Work hours may vary week to week and can not to exceed 29 hours in a single work week.
  • Willing to work various shifts & weekly work schedules including Saturdays, Sundays, some holidays & during inclement weather.
  • Truck Delivery Days: Hours maybe outside of normal business hours
  • Inventory days: May work past midnight &/or other times when the store is normally closed.
