Acceptance of Terms

By subscribing to Virginia ABC SMS (Short Message Service) text messages, you agree to receive recurring autodialed marketing and promotional messages, including but not limited to messages regarding limited availability product drops, and sales and promotions, at the mobile phone number(s) used at the time of opt-in. Consent is not required as a condition of purchasing any goods or services. You also agree to the following terms and conditions:

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Message frequency may vary, from ten to fifteen messages per month per keyword subscribed.
  • Message and data rates may apply.

Terms & Conditions are subject to change. Mobile carriers and Virginia ABC are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I signed up using the keyword but did not get a response, what do I do?

A: Confirm the following:

  • The keyword you entered matches exactly (capitalization is not required).
  • The number you entered matches exactly: 80424

If your text message includes an automatic signature your text will not go through as these are unrecognized characters associated with a keyword.

If you are using an iPhone, make sure to check the "Unknown Senders" filter. Often the texts can get caught in these filters. If you have checked that and still do not see the message, then please contact [email protected].

Q: Why was my date of birth not accepted?

A: Confirm you have replied with your date of birth listed as mmddyyyy (example: February 7, 1985 should be entered as 02071985). Dates of birth presented in any other manner will not be accepted; This includes, but is not limited to: 020785, 02/07/1985, 02/07/85, Feb 7, 1985, February 7, 1985 and Feb 7, 1985 = 02071985.

Q: How do I stop receiving texts that I signed up for?

A: You can reply with STOP at anytime to unsubscribe and no longer receive texts

Q: I signed up but have not received any promotional messages, do I need to sign up again?

A: No, once you sign up, enter your date of birth and receive the confirmation you are subscribed you do not need to subscribe again.

Q: I unsubscribed but am still getting text messages, what do I do?

Q: What happens if I respond to a text message?

A: This inbox is an unmonitored inbox. For assistance, please refer to our Contact Us page.

Q: Is it safe to click on a link in a text message?

A: Yes. You can click on links we share in our text messages. Links might look incomplete because we use a link shortener when sending text messages.

Q: For limited availability drop text message notifications will there be a weblink to stores with available products for purchase?

A: Yes. Virginia ABC will continue to distribute a weblink to subscribers via email and text messages.

Q: Will I be charged to receive text messages?

A: Message and data rates may apply depending on your individual cell phone plan.

Q: What is a "fallback" message?

A: This means that the text message contained an image, but your provider does not support images. You can click on the fallback link, and it will show you the image.

Q: Why can’t I sign up for text messages specifically for my store?

A: Virginia ABC promotional messaging is companywide messaging and not store specific. For limited availability drops, stores with limited availability products available to purchase are communicated in one list accessible via a weblin
