This recipe serves 6.

Heat wine, sugar, orange slices, vanilla bean (cut in half lengthwise), cloves, cinnamon sticks and star anise over medium-high heat until the sugar is dissolved (4-5 minutes), being careful not to let the wine boil. Turn the heat down to a simmer and cook for 30-45 minutes until all the flavors have incorporated into the wine. Scoop out the vanilla bean, cloves, cinnamon sticks and star anise and strain into individual mugs. Garnish with orange slices and cinnamon sticks. Serve hot.
