Mixed Beverage Annual Review

Pitcher with Red Juice Cocktail and Glasses

Notice of System Transition

If you are not a current VAL user and you have an MBAR report due in August, you can use the current online process for MBAR Reporting until 8/15/22. All MBAR Reports submitted after 8/15/22 will need to use the paper process MBAR Mail-in Submission Instructions.

Licensees who have received a PIN letter and have established a VAL account can begin using the VAL MBAR system immediately to complete your MBAR submissions.

For licenses with a 9/1/22 MBAR reporting due date, ABC will be remailing your PIN letter with your MBAR notification. Please take this opportunity to setup your VAL account, associate your existing licenses and complete your MBAR submission online.

The MBAR, or Mixed Beverage Annual Review, is the name of a report that documents the food and beverage sales of mixed-beverage licensees. These licensees, who include restaurants, caterers and clubs, are required by law to submit an MBAR to Virginia ABC once a year on the anniversary of the issuance of their license. View information about the food-beverage ratio.

To submit MBARs online, you must first create an account with Virginia ABC's Account Central, the portal that provides access to a range of web applications using a single log-on. Need assistance? Download instructions for filling the MBAR online (PDF)
