A new Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority (ABC) store in Timberville makes it easier for Rockingham County area customers to shop for spirits and Virginia wine. The retail outlet, located at 162 New Market Road next to the Walmart Supercenter, is Timberville’s first ABC store. A grand opening celebration will be held at the store at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 26.
“Before this store opened, Timberville residents had to travel more than 10 miles to the nearest ABC store in Mount Jackson or Harrisonburg,” said Virginia ABC Chief Executive Officer Travis Hill. “For more than a decade, Virginia ABC has been opening stores in rural areas to reduce travel time for customers. The new Timberville store is one more way to enable us to better meet the needs of customers and restaurant licensees across the state.”
The public is invited to attend the ceremony, which will include brief remarks from Hill, a ribbon cutting, light refreshments and informal store tours. The first 25 customers will receive a complimentary gift.
This is the third ABC store in Rockingham County. The new store measures 2,600 square feet. The store’s product selection spans a variety of more than 900 items, including 213 bourbons, 149 vodkas, 95 cordials, 93 rums, 70 tequilas and 45 scotches.
The store employs four sales associates and two lead sales associates who are eager to help customers find what they are looking for and discover new products. Store hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
Virginia ABC currently has 386 stores across the commonwealth. Currently, 92% of Virginians live within 10 minutes of an ABC store.
Customers are encouraged to visit Virginia ABC’s website at www.abc.virginia.gov to search for stores, determine the availability of products at any retail location and order spirits online for pickup at a local store.
