Virginia ABC Opens New Store in Henrico County

Residents in eastern Henrico County near the community of Highland Springs have a new retail outlet for purchasing Virginia wine and spirits. The Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority (ABC) recently opened a store at 4991 Nine Mile Road in the Eastgate Town Center. A grand opening celebration will be held at the store at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 7.

“Our nearby store in the Laburnum Park Shopping Center is one of the busiest stores in the commonwealth,” said Virginia ABC Chief Executive Officer Travis Hill. “We are committed to providing excellent customer service and strategically chose this new location along Nine Mile Road to better serve eastern Henrico County customers and restaurant licensees.”

The public is invited to attend the ceremony, which will include brief remarks from Hill, a ribbon cutting, light refreshments and informal store tours. The first 25 customers will receive a complimentary gift.

This store is the 18th ABC store in Henrico County. It measures 4,344 square feet, nearly 1,200 square feet larger than the average ABC store. The store’s product selection spans a variety of more than 1,000 items, including 214 vodkas, 144 bourbons, 110 rums, 104 brandies, 89 cordials and 85 tequilas.

The store employs six sales associates and a store manager who are eager to help customers find what they are looking for and discover new products. Store hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 7 p.m. on Sunday.

Virginia ABC currently has 384 stores across the commonwealth and plans to open additional stores in strategic locations to meet market demands and better serve its customers. Currently, 92% of Virginians live within 10 minutes of an ABC store.

Customers are encouraged to visit Virginia ABC’s website at www.abc.virginia.gov to search for stores, determine the availability of products at any retail location and order spirits online for delivery to a local store.

The Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority (ABC) is a major source of revenue for the commonwealth, contributing more than $2.2 billion to the general fund in the last five years. Virginia ABC currently operates 384 state stores, and provides alcohol education and prevention programs for people of all ages. Its Bureau of Law Enforcement oversees more than 19,000 ABC licensed establishments. Now marking its 85th year, ABC remains committed to progress and innovation in carrying out its vision of bringing good spirits and excellent service to Virginia.
