Winchester residents have a sixth location where they may purchase spirits now that a new Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority (ABC) store has opened at 159 Market Street at the Rutherford Crossing shopping center. A grand opening celebration will be held at the store at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 13.
The public is invited to join the ceremony, which will include brief remarks from Virginia ABC Chief Executive Officer Travis Hill, a ribbon cutting, light refreshments and informal store tours. The first 25 customers will receive a complimentary gift.
“We are excited to open another store in Winchester that makes shopping for distilled spirits even more convenient for customers,” said Hill. “As we learn more about our customers in this area, the store manager will adjust inventory to fit their unique needs.”
The new store measures 5,000 square feet and is approximately 1,800 square feet larger than the average Virginia ABC store. The store’s product selection spans more than 1,800 unique items including 362 bourbons, 303 vodkas, 182 cordials, 150 scotches and 145 tequilas.
The store employs three sales associates and a store manager who are eager to help customers find exactly what they need. Store hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon-6 p.m. on Sunday.
Virginia ABC currently has 382 stores across the commonwealth. ABC plans to open additional stores in strategic locations throughout the commonwealth to meet market demands and better serve its customers. Currently, 92% of Virginians live within 10 minutes of an ABC store.
Customers are encouraged to visit Virginia ABC’s website at www.abc.virginia.gov to search for stores, determine the availability of products at any retail location and order spirits online for delivery to a local store.
The Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority (ABC) is a major source of revenue for the commonwealth, contributing more than $2.2 billion to the general fund in the last five years.
