Starting Wednesday, May 22, the Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority (ABC) will distribute 331 bottles of the highly popular Pappy Van Winkle Family Reserve 20 Year Bourbon through the online lottery system.
Virginia ABC customers will have the opportunity to enter to win the chance to purchase a bottle of Pappy Van Winkle Family Reserve 20 Year Bourbon. This product was previously distributed through a special order waiting list, which was fulfilled within the last year.
“Our online lottery system gives all legal age Virginians an equal opportunity to purchase prominent bottles and collections,” said Travis Hill, Virginia ABC Chief Executive Officer. “We are excited to offer the highly sought after Pappy Van Winkle 20 Year through the lottery system this year for the first time.”
The entry form for both retail and mixed beverage licensee customers will be available for five days. Separate lottery drawings will be done for retail customers and mixed beverage licensees. Winners from both lotteries will be selected at random in a drawing from all valid entries received during the lottery entry period. All entries received during the five-day entry period will have an equal opportunity to win. The lottery is open to Virginia residents and Virginia ABC mixed beverage licensees only and winners must present a valid Virginia photo ID and license number (if a mixed beverage licensee) at the time of purchase.
The specific date for the lottery entries and the product’s price are as follows:
• May 22-26 – Pappy Van Winkle Family Reserve 20 Year Bourbon ($169.99, 331 bottles), winners and non-winners will be notified June 3.
All lottery entries must include the store number and address where the bottle should be delivered for customer purchase and pick up. Lottery entrants are encouraged to determine this location before submitting their entry. The lottery forms and the full terms and conditions are available at www.abc.virginia.gov/products/limited-availability; those interested are encouraged to review the terms and conditions as they have been updated as of April 1.
