To better serve the growing number of residents and licensees in the Huntington community, the Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority (ABC) has opened its eighth store in Alexandria.
Virginia ABC will hold a grand opening ceremony at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 25, for its newest store located at 5940 Richmond Highway in Alexandria’s Huntington Gateway shopping center. The public is invited to join Virginia ABC Chief Executive Officer Travis Hill, Chief Retail Operations Officer Jeff Reeder, store staff and special local guests at the event, which will include brief remarks, a ribbon cutting, informational store tours and refreshments. The first 25 customers will receive a gift.
“This new store is conveniently located near the Huntington Metro Station and Woodrow Wilson Bridge,” Hill said. “We are committed to providing excellent customer service and strategically chose this location to better serve Huntington area customers and licensees.” ABC has opened more than 80 stores in the last 10 years and has plans to open additional stores based on market research, customer demand and available locations.
The new Alexandria store measures over 3,000 square feet and includes a customized selection of more than 1,200 items including 253 vodkas, 200 bourbons, 130 rums, 109 cordials, 93 tequilas and 90 brandies.
“Our sales associates are eager to help customers find exactly what they are looking for, answer questions and fulfill special requests,” said Reeder. “As we get to know customers and licensees in this area, we will adjust the store’s product selection to accommodate their preferences.”
The store is open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 7 p.m. on Sunday. Customers are encouraged to visit Virginia ABC’s website at www.abc.virginia.gov
to search for ABC stores, determine the availability of products at any retail location and order spirits online for pickup at a local store.
