Looking for that special holiday gift for the scotch, tequila or brandy lover on your list? For the first time, Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority (ABC) will provide a convenient way for Northern Virginia shoppers to buy liquor gift sets over the holidays. Through Dec. 31, Virginia ABC kiosks in Tysons Corner Center and Dulles Town Center will feature a limited selection of high-end, boxed liquors starting around $50. Some products include bar items such as branded glasses, a decorative tin or cocktail shaker.
“Liquor gift sets are historically popular sellers in our stores during the holiday season,” said Virginia ABC Chief Executive Officer Travis Hill. “This year, we’re offering a premier selection of some of our most popular items to mall customers as an added convenience while they’re shopping for everyone on their holiday gift list.”
Starting today, Tysons Corner Center shoppers can find the Virginia ABC kiosk outside of Macy’s on the first floor. The Dulles Town Center kiosk is located near Harry & David on the second floor. Both locations feature more than 20 premium spirits including hard-to-find scotches such as Bowmore 15 Year Darkest and Lagavulin Distillers Edition. For that luxury gift-lover on your list, the Tysons Corner kiosk will offer Remy Martin Louis XIII cognac for $3,400 and The Macallan “M” whiskey for $5,000. Online ordering is not available for kiosk locations.
Kiosk hours of operation Mondays through Saturdays are the same as mall hours. On Sundays, these locations will open after noon, when liquor is legally permitted to be sold in Virginia. They will be closed on Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 22) and Christmas Day but will be open during mall hours on all other holidays. Both locations will accept credit and debit card payments only—no cash transactions.
Kiosk customers can also take advantage of Virginia ABC’s Black Friday promotion on Nov. 23. All pretax purchases totaling $100 or more will receive a 20 percent discount. The sale does not apply to licensee purchases.
The Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority (ABC) is a major source of revenue for the commonwealth, contributing more than $2.1 billion to the general fund in the last five years.
