Virginia ABC Raising the Bar with Door Buster Days, New “Spirited Thursdays” Holiday Promotions

Starting in November, the Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority (ABC) is raising the bar for the holiday season by offering several discounts and promotions in stores and online.  


Door Buster Days in stores will be Nov. 1-3 and feature a 20 percent discount on 10 select 1.75 liter-size products while supplies last. Customers and licensees will be limited to purchases of three bottles per product each day. The selected products include: 

  • Jim Beam Black Bourbon
  • Gentleman Jack Whiskey
  • Bailey's Original Irish Cream
  • Jagermeister
  • Beefeater Gin
  • Belvedere Vodka
  • Ketel One Vodka
  • Johnnie Walker Red Scotch
  • Dewar’s White Label Scotch
  • Espolon Reposado Tequila


Beginning Nov. 8, ABC will offer “Spirited Thursdays.” Customers and licensees can save 20 percent on select 750 ml-size spirits in stores and online. Each week until Dec. 20 (except on Nov. 22 when stores will be closed for Thanksgiving), all stores will feature a one-day sale on five products with a different spirits category each week, including tequilas, cordials, rums, scotches, gins and whiskeys. 


On Black Friday, Nov. 23, all Virginia ABC stores will offer a 20 percent in-store discount on any pretax purchase totaling $100 or more. The in-store discount applies to any product, including miniatures, gift sets and top-shelf specialty items. The sale does not apply to licensee purchases. 


On Cyber Monday, Nov. 26, Virginia ABC will offer an online-only promotion through its website www.abc.virginia.gov. Customers can save 20 percent on any online purchase totaling $100 or more. The sale does not apply to licensee purchases.

The Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) is a major source of revenue for the commonwealth, contributing more than $1.9 billion to the general fund in the last five years. The agency currently operates 368 state stores. Its Bureau of Law Enforcement oversees more than 17,000 ABC licensed establishments while the Hearings and Appeals Division considers more than 700 cases each year. The agency also provides alcohol education and prevention programs for people of all ages.
