Virginia ABC Store in Middleburg Will Undergo Modernization Project

The Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) retail location at 106 Washington St. in Middleburg will close at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, for a modernization project. The 2,862-square-foot store will get a fresh new look with the installation of new store counters, shelves and other interior upgrades as part of the project. The store is tentatively scheduled to reopen at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 22.

In fiscal year 2017, the store sold 8,466 gallons of products generating almost $1 million in gross sales, a four percent increase over the previous year’s sales.

“The modernization of this store will provide customers with a refreshed and inviting atmosphere to create even more enjoyable shopping experiences for both long-time customers and patrons who haven’t previously explored our selection of products,” said Director of Retail Operations Wilson Jones.

During the closure for the project, customers can shop nearby for distilled spirits at Virginia ABC stores located at 4199-B Winchester Road in the Marshall Shopping Center, Marshall; 5331 Merchants View Square in the Dominion Valley Market Square Shopping Center, Haymarket; and 42015 Village Center Plaza in the Stone Ridge Village Center, Stone Ridge.

A searchable list of Virginia ABC’s 370 stores—including brands and quantities of spirits available at each location—can be found on the agency’s newly updated website (www.abc.virginia.gov).

The Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) is a major source of revenue for the commonwealth, contributing more than $1.9 billion to the general fund in the last five years. The agency currently operates 370 state stores. Its Bureau of Law Enforcement oversees more than 17,000 ABC licensed establishments while the Hearings and Appeals Division considers more than 700 cases each year. The agency also provides alcohol education and prevention programs for people of all ages. Now marking its 84th year, ABC remains committed to progress and innovation in carrying out its control, service and revenue mission.
