To better serve the growing number of residents in Fairfax, the Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) has opened a retail outlet at 10140 Fairfax Blvd. in Boulevard Marketplace at the center of this bustling Northern Virginia community. The new store is conveniently situated along the popular U.S. Route 50 commercial corridor in Fairfax City.
The public is invited to a grand opening event for its newest retail location at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 7. Virginia ABC Chairman Jeffrey Painter and special guests will attend this celebration, which will include brief remarks, a ribbon cutting, photos and informal store tours. Refreshments will follow at 11:30 a.m.
“We’re excited to provide another retail location in Fairfax as an added convenience for the growing population and business base,” said Painter. The area has seen its population increase by nearly 20,000 residents within a five mile radius of the shopping center in the past seven years.
“Virginia ABC strategically chose the location to meet market demands and better serve its Fairfax customers,” said Wilson Jones, director of retail operations.
The new 2,139-square-foot space includes 1,283 square feet of retail space with the remainder set aside for office space and inventory storage. The new store offers approximately 914 items and employs six people. Store hours will be 10 a.m.− 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon−6 p.m. Sunday.
“We're thrilled to have a store on this major thoroughfare and are eager to welcome customers, answer their questions and fulfill special requests,” said Jones. “As we get to know customers in this area we will adjust the store’s product mix to accommodate their tastes.” The first 25 customers at the grand opening will receive a free gift.
Virginia ABC operates 369 stores in the commonwealth.
