Virginia ABC to Open 366th Store in Newport News

The Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) will host a grand opening for its newest store located at 14272 Warwick Boulevard in the DW Center in Newport News.

Virginia ABC will celebrate the agency’s 366th store with a grand opening on Tuesday, June 20, at 1 p.m. Citizens are invited to join Virginia ABC Chief Operating Officer Travis Hill, store staff and special guests at the event, which will include remarks, a ribbon cutting, informational store tours and refreshments. The first 25 customers will receive a complimentary gift.

“At ABC we are always looking for ways to better serve the people of the commonwealth,” Hill said. “Customer service is important, and we are delighted to offer a new store location for the convenience of our patrons.” Based on market research, customer demand and available locations, Virginia ABC has been able to open more than 80 stores in the last 10 years.

With the addition of this store, there will be eight ABC stores in Newport News. The store measures 5,000 square feet and will include a selection of over 1,900 items including 374 vodkas, 300 bourbons, 206 rums, a variety of Virginia-made wines and more. The store manager may alter the store’s product assortment to accommodate local preferences.

The store will be open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday with six employees to help customers find exactly what they are looking for.
