Customers purchasing distilled spirits in Williamsburg’s Monticello Marketplace Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) store will visit a new space starting next week, but the location change will only equate to a few additional steps. The Virginia ABC store at 4640-3 Monticello Ave. is moving to 4640-6 Monticello Ave., just a few doors down from the current retail space in the shopping center.
To complete the move within the shopping center, this Williamsburg ABC store—one of five located in the city—will be closed Saturday, May 20, through Wednesday, May 24. Customers may make purchases on those days at nearby stores including those at Quarterpath Crossing Shopping Center, 1480-3C Quarterpath Road; Lightfoot Marketplace, 6497 Centerville Road; or Williamsburg Shopping Center, 1244 Richmond Road. The new location will open at 9 a.m. on Thursday, May 25.
The location change includes an additional 500 square feet and allows for a refresh of the store’s interior by featuring new displays for its special items.
Operating hours at the store will remain the same: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.
A searchable list of Virginia ABC’s 365 stores—including brands and quantities of spirits available at each location—can be found on the agency’s newly updated website (www.abc.virginia.gov).
The Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) is a major source of revenue for the commonwealth, contributing more than $1.9 billion to the general fund in the last five years. The agency currently operates 365 state stores. Its Bureau of Law Enforcement oversees more than 17,000 ABC licensed establishments while the Hearings and Appeals Division considers more than 700 cases each year. The agency also provides alcohol education and prevention programs for people of all ages. Now marking its 83rd year, ABC remains committed to progress and innovation in carrying out its control, service and revenue mission.
