Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) customers are now able to enjoy 45 new products that have been added to the agency’s product catalog in October.
This autumn class of spirits includes 19 bourbons, seven cordials, four vodkas, brandies, moonshines and more. Several Virginia-made products will be available for the first time, including Ironclad Bourbon, Belle Isle Coffee Moonshine, Mt. Defiance Absinthe, White Label Corn Whiskey and Ghost Pepper Vodka.
“We’re very excited to offer these products to our customers, both in Virginia ABC stores and on the agency’s website,” said Director of Marketing John Shiffer. “This quarterly process helps store shelves more accurately reflect the changing flavors of the season.”
Virginia ABC adds products to its catalog of thousands of spirits, wines and mixers quarterly each year. Vendors are invited to the agency’s offices in Richmond to present information on their products. Based on a number of factors, the listings committee recommends products to the ABC Board for final review. When a product is first listed, it typically has a limited release in 20 to 100 stores. Based on performance, the product may then be released into additional stores.
Virginia ABC holds listings in March, June, September and December with products accepted in those terms arriving in stores on the first of April, July, October and January respectively.
“In 2014 we doubled the number of times we hold listings to become more flexible in meeting market trends,” said Virginia ABC Chairman Jeffrey Painter. “As the Board makes its final selections, we’re committed to giving our customers the widest range of products available.”
A full list of new products, including gift sets and special bottles is available on Virginia ABC’s website.
