Public Invited to Celebrate Addition of Virginia ABC Store to Growing Mix of Dining and Shopping Options in Zion Crossroads

The extraordinary economic development at Zion Crossroads has provided area residents and interstate travelers with a wide range of options for shopping and dining, but until now one retailer was missing from the mix—a Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) store. People across Virginia’s central Piedmont region can now shop for distilled spirits, Virginia wines and an assortment of mixers at the new Virginia ABC location at 45 Market St.

To celebrate, Virginia ABC will host a grand opening ceremony at 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 12. Citizens are invited to join Virginia ABC Chairman Jeffrey Painter and special guests at the event, which will include brief remarks, a ribbon cutting, photos and informal store tours followed by refreshments. The first 25 customers will receive a gift.

“Zion Crossroads is more than just trucker traffic these days,” said Chairman Painter. “Zion Crossroads has quickly become a desirable residential community with thriving retail, commercial and recreational attractions. In addition to shoppers in the immediate area, we anticipate customers coming from Gordonsville, Louisa, Orange, Charlottesville and Fluvanna to make purchases at this new store.”

The 2,777-square-foot space offers nearly 1,400 products, including a wide selection of Virginia-made spirits. In addition, the retail outlet has a specialty section featuring dozens of unique and rare items.  As shoppers make purchases and express their preferences, the manager will refine and customize the store’s product mix to accommodate customer favorites.

The store, which opened on Aug. 25, has eight employees to assist customers. It is the sixth Virginia ABC store to open in 2016 and the third location in Louisa County. Operating hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.

“I’m very excited about the potential of the new Zion Crossroads store. We are always seeking new locations to make our extensive product selection available for Virginia shoppers. I’m confident that having such great visibility on a main thoroughfare in an area that continues to experience great vitality will be the perfect fit,” said Chairman Painter.

A searchable list of Virginia ABC’s 360 stores—including brands and quantities of spirits available at each location—can be found on the agency’s website (www.abc.virginia.gov). Customers may also order select spirits online for delivery to the store of their choice.
