Customers who shop for distilled spirits at the Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control’s (ABC) Gaskins Road store can look forward to a brand-new retail experience as the agency prepares to remodel the Henrico-based retail outlet. The store at 1370 Gaskins Road will close on Saturday, Aug. 20, at 6 p.m. and remain closed until late September as it undergoes major renovations.
The free-standing 4,473 square-foot shop, which opened more than 15 years ago in February 2001, will get new flooring, shelving, counter tops and a fresh coat of paint.
“The updated store will offer a more efficient layout and enjoyable shopping experience,” said Wilson Jones, director of retail operations. “I think patrons will be pleased with the renovation, one that underscores our commitment to providing excellent customer service.”
While the Gaskins Road location is closed, customers can shop at nearby Virginia ABC stores located at 1521 Parham Road and 11252 Patterson Ave., both in Richmond. Shoppers may also visit Virginia ABC’s website at www.abc.virginia.gov to browse favorite distilled spirits and Virginia wines and order select products for delivery to a local store.
Virginia ABC is a major source of revenue for the commonwealth, contributing more than $1.8 billion to the general fund in the last five years. The agency currently operates 360 state stores. Its Bureau of Law Enforcement oversees more than 17,000 ABC licensed establishments while the Hearings and Appeals Division considers more than 700 cases each year. The agency also provides alcohol education and prevention programs for people of all ages. Now marking its 83rd year, ABC remains committed to progress and innovation in carrying out its control, service and revenue mission.
