Who: The public is invited to join Secretary of Public Safety and Homeland Security Brian Moran and Special Policy Advisor for Virginia ABC Law Enforcement Ryant Washington at the grand opening of Virginia ABC’s newest store in Alexandria.
When: Wednesday, April 13, at 11 a.m.
Where: 4349 Duke Street, Alexandria, in space formerly occupied by Pier 1 Imports.
What: The grand opening event will include brief remarks, a ribbon cutting, photos and informal store tours followed by refreshments. The first 25 customers will receive a free gift.
Why: Virginia ABC is celebrating its fourth retail outlet to open this year, bringing the total number of stores in the state to 358. This store is the seventh in the city of Alexandria.
The 8,813 square-foot space includes 7,235 square feet of retail space with the remainder set aside for storage and the building’s mechanical operations. The store offers approximately 1,500 products. The location helps fulfill Virginia ABC’s goal of providing excellent customer service and convenience for consumers to shop and responsibly enjoy ABC’s wide selection of products.
The Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) is a major source of revenue for the commonwealth, contributing more than $1.8 billion to the general fund in the last five years. The agency currently operates 358 state stores. Its Bureau of Law Enforcement oversees more than 16,000 ABC licensed establishments while the Hearings and Appeals Division considers more than 700 cases each year. The agency also provides alcohol education and prevention programs for people of all ages. Now marking its 83rd year, ABC remains committed to progress and innovation in carrying out its control, service and revenue mission.
