Virginia ABC Announces Renovation of its Dublin Store

Customers shopping for distilled spirits in Dublin can look forward to a brand-new retail experience as the Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) prepares to remodel the store located at 5265 Alexander Road in Dublin. The store will close on Saturday, Feb. 27 at 9 p.m. and remain closed for nearly a month as it undergoes major renovations.

New flooring, shelving, ceiling tiles and a fresh coat of paint will enhance the new space, which will double in size. The store will expand from 1,750 square feet to 3,500 square feet, with the sales area increasing by more than 1,200 square feet.

“The refreshed store will create a more pleasant shopping experience for our customers,” said Wilson Jones, director of retail operations. “Increased shelving and new facings will allow customers to discover products they might not have known about, including imported rums, aged whiskeys, flavored vodkas, cordials, liqueurs and an assortment of Virginia-made wines and spirits.”

Virginia ABC apologizes for the inconvenience and interruption in service. While the Alexander Road location is closed, customers can shop at nearby Virginia ABC stores located at 97 Walker St. in Radford, 325 W. Main St. in Wytheville and 441 W. Stuart Drive in Hillsville. Shoppers may also visit ABC’s new website at www.abc.virginia.gov to browse favorite distilled spirits and Virginia wines online and order select products for delivery to a local store.

The Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) is a major source of revenue for the commonwealth, contributing more than $1.8 billion to the general fund in the last five years. The agency currently operates 357 state stores. Its Bureau of Law Enforcement oversees more than 16,000 ABC licensed establishments while the Hearings and Appeals Division considers more than 700 cases each year. The agency also provides alcohol education and prevention programs for people of all ages. Now marking its 82nd year, ABC remains committed to progress and innovation in carrying out its control, service and revenue mission.
