Virginia ABC Announces Renovation of its Stanleytown Store

It will only take a little more than two weeks for the Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) to give its store at 985 Fairystone Park Highway in Stanleytown’s Ridgewood Square Shopping Center a fresh look and a more efficient design.

With the renovation, customers can look forward to new flooring, shelving and a fresh coat of paint for the 1,121-square-foot store. The renovation will also include the installation of a wall separating the sales area from the store’s stockroom and office area and a new sales counter. The renovation will require that the store remain closed from 9 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 27, to 10 a.m. on Monday, March 14.

“The refreshed store will create a more inviting atmosphere for our customers,” said Virginia ABC Director of Retail Operations Wilson Jones. “I think visitors will be pleasantly surprised with the changes.”

While the Ridgewood Square Shopping Center location is closed, customers can shop at nearby Virginia ABC stores located in Mountainview Plaza Shopping Center at 786 Commonwealth Blvd. or Smith River Crossing Shopping Center, 2777 Greensboro Road, which are both less than 10 miles away in Martinsville.

The Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) is a major source of revenue for the commonwealth, contributing more than $1.8 billion to the general fund in the last five years. The agency currently operates 357 state stores. Its Bureau of Law Enforcement oversees more than 16,000 ABC licensed establishments while the Hearings and Appeals Division considers more than 700 cases each year. The agency also provides alcohol education and prevention programs for people of all ages. Now marking its 82nd year, ABC remains committed to progress and innovation in carrying out its control, service and revenue mission.
