The Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) store at Pearisburg Square Shopping Center, 140 Kinter Way in Pearisburg, has closed for remodeling.
The Giles County retail outlet, which has been at its current location for seven years, will be closed for about a month during the construction project.
"The store is in leased space, and when the retail property’s landlord approached us about making accommodations for a new tenant adjoining us in the shopping center, we saw an opportunity to create a more streamlined space for our store,” said Virginia ABC Director of Real Estate and Facilities Management Susan Johnson. “The new store will provide a more efficient and pleasant shopping experience for our Pearisburg customers.”
During the closure, nearby Virginia ABC stores located in Dublin at 5265 Alexander Road and in Radford at 97 Walker St. will be open for business.
For customer convenience, a searchable list of Virginia ABC’s 355 retail outlets—including brands and quantities of spirits available at each location—can be found on the agency’s updated website (www.abc.virginia.gov). Customers may also order spirits online for delivery to the store of their choice.
The Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) is a major source of revenue for the commonwealth, contributing more than $1.8 billion to the general fund in the last five years. The agency currently operates 355 state stores. Its Bureau of Law Enforcement oversees more than 16,000 ABC licensed establishments while the Hearings and Appeals Division considers more than 700 cases each year. The agency also provides alcohol education and prevention programs for people of all ages. ABC is committed to progress and innovation in carrying out its control, service and revenue mission.
