The Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) store located at 6550 Hampton Roads Parkway in Suffolk, will close at 6 p.m. on Friday, April 24. It will relocate to 5911 Harbour View Boulevard in Suffolk and reopen at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 30. The new store will be similar in size and inventory to the former store.
The new store, located less than 2 miles from the store that is closing, will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1 to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
For customer convenience, Virginia ABC stores located at 5748 Churchland Blvd. in Portsmouth, 4300 Portsmouth Blvd. in Chesapeake, and 3575 Bridge Road in Suffolk are nearby and open for business during the brief interruption in service.
The Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) is a major source of revenue for the commonwealth, contributing more than $1.8 billion to the general fund in the last five years. The agency currently operates 351 state stores. Its Bureau of Law Enforcement oversees more than 16,000 ABC licensed establishments while the Hearings and Appeals Division considers more than 700 cases each year. The agency also provides alcohol education and prevention programs for people of all ages.
