Shoppers have until 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 24, to make final gift and holiday gathering purchases at all 350 Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) stores. Virginia ABC stores will be open until 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve and will be closed on Christmas Day, Thursday, Dec. 25.
ABC stores will be open regular business hours on New Year’s Eve, Wednesday, Dec. 31, with select stores offering extended hours for customer convenience. All stores will be closed on New Year’s Day, Thursday, Jan. 1, 2015.

The Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) is a major source of revenue for the commonwealth, contributing more than $1.8 billion to the general fund in the last five years. The agency currently operates 350 state stores. Its Bureau of Law Enforcement oversees more than 16,000 ABC licensed establishments while the Hearings and Appeals Division considers more than 700 cases each year.
