New ABC Stores Open in Stuarts Draft and Fishersville

  • Fishersville and Stuarts Draft each has its first ABC store
  • Grand opening celebrations will be held Friday, July 18

Residents of Fishersville and Stuarts Draft are used to driving to Waynesboro for their favorite distilled spirits, but that distance isn’t an issue anymore as each town now has its own ABC store. The Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) is hosting grand opening celebrations for both stores on Friday, July 18.

The Fishersville store’s grand opening event is at 9:30 a.m. The store measures 2,438 square feet and is located in The Shops at Windward Point at 32 Windward Drive.

The Stuarts Draft store is hosting its event at noon. It is located at 2576 Stuarts Draft Highway in the Windmill Square Shopping Center and is 1,400 square feet.

Residents are invited to attend these grand openings. Virginia ABC Chairman Jeff Painter will offer remarks and participate in the ribbon cutting ceremony. County officials and the business community received a special invitation to attend the events.

“We’re pleased to expand our retail presence in these communities in response to residents’ requests for more shopping convenience,” said Painter. Currently 98 percent of Virginia’s population resides within 10 minutes of an ABC store.

Both stores carry nearly 1,800 items and employ seven people each. As customers make purchases and express their preferences, store managers may customize the location’s product mix to accommodate customer favorites.

In recognition of ABC’s 80th anniversary year, the first 80 customers at each opening will receive a free non-alcoholic gift.
