ABC will be celebrating the opening of its Twinbrooke store in Fairfax County. Public Safety Secretary Brian Moran will join ABC commissioners for a ribbon-cutting ceremony tomorrow, May 13, at 11 a.m. The grand opening ceremony is open to the public.
The store, located in the Twinbrooke Shopping Center at 9575 Braddock Road, offers customers a modernized retail space convenient for Fairfax County’s extensive population and business base.
The location was strategically chosen to meet market demands and better serve the northern Virginia market. The store measures 2,500 square feet, carries approximately 1,149 items and will employ six people, a manager and five sales associates.
“We're eager to welcome customers, answer their questions, fulfill special requests and, ultimately, adjust the store’s product mix to accommodate their tastes,” said Wilson Jones, director of retail operations.
Regular store hours are 10 a.m. − 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1 − 6 p.m. Sunday.
In celebration of ABC’s 80th anniversary year, the first 80 customers following Tuesday’s ceremony will receive a free non-alcoholic gift.
ABC has opened 80 stores in the last 10 years and plans to open 20 more in the next five years to keep pace with the commonwealth’s growing population. Currently 98 percent of Virginia’s population resides within 10 minutes of an ABC store.
The Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) is a major source of revenue for the commonwealth, contributing $1.7 billion to the general fund in the last five years. The agency currently operates 347 state stores. Its Bureau of Law Enforcement oversees 16,000 ABC licensed establishments while the Hearings and Appeals Division considers more than 700 cases each year. The agency also provides alcohol education and prevention programs for people of all ages. Now in its 80th year, ABC remains committed to progress and innovation in carrying out its control, service and revenue mission.
