The Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) announces the opening of its new Glen Allen store located at 11367 Nuckols Rd. in the Town Center at Twin Hickory shopping center.
A grand opening event is planned for 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 1. ABC Commissioners and special guests will attend this ribbon cutting ceremony before the store opens to the public at 10 a.m.
“ABC strategically chose the Town Center at Twin Hickory to meet market demands and better serve the growing population in Glen Allen,” said Wilson Jones, director of retail operations.
The next closest ABC store is at 3406 Pump Road in Short Pump Crossing.
The store measures 1,600 square feet, carries approximately 1,018 items and will employ seven people. Store hours will be 10 a.m.− 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1− 6 p.m. Sunday.
“We're eager to welcome customers, answer their questions and fulfill special requests,” said Jones. “As we get to know customers in this area we will adjust the store’s product mix to accommodate their tastes.”
In celebration of ABC’s 80th anniversary year, the first 80 customers Thursday will receive a free non-alcoholic gift.
ABC has opened 80 stores in the last 10 years and plans to open 20 more in the next five years. Currently 98 percent of Virginia’s population resides within 10 minutes of an ABC store.
