Molly, Benzos, Spice, Ivory Wave, Red Dove, K-3, Z-Bar, Beans…it’s hard to talk to your kids about substance abuse…it’s even harder if you don’t speak the language. The Substance Abuse Awareness Vital for Virginia Youth (SAVVY) initiative wants to help parents, educators and community groups “get SAVVY” about youth substance abuse at the fourth SAVVY Expo on Wednesday at Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center in Abingdon.
Secretary of Public Safety Marla Decker along with various other VIP’s will be in attendance. In addition to representatives from local substance abuse prevention programs, experts from Virginia’s Prescription Monitoring Program, the Virginia Army National Guard Counterdrug Task Force, Virginia departments of Juvenile Justice and Forensic Science, the Virginia State Police and Virginia Foundation for Healthy Youth, among many others, will be available to provide information, advice and answer questions. Representatives from the media and the public are encouraged to attend.
