New ABC Store Opens in Poquoson

  • 339th ABC store to open in Poquoson
  • Grand Opening set for Nov. 15 at 9:30 a.m

The Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) will open a new store in Poquoson later this month in the Wythe Creek Plaza Shopping Center. A grand opening is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 15, at 9:30 a.m.

The location was strategically chosen to meet market demands and better serve the Poquoson market. ABC customers living and working in Poquoson currently shop in stores eight to 15 miles away in Hampton and York County.

The store measures 2,100 square feet, carries approximately 834 items and will employ five people, four who are from the Poquoson community.

“We're eager to welcome customers, answer their questions, fulfill special requests and, ultimately, adjust the store’s product mix to accommodate their tastes,” said Wilson Jones, director of retail operations.

Regular store hours will be 10 a.m.–9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1–6 p.m. Sunday. The first 25 customers will receive a free non-alcoholic gift.

Industry vendors will offer free tastings of selected products Thursday and Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and again Saturday from 2 to 6 p.m.

The Poquoson store, located at 475 Wythe Creek Road, is the 339th store in the ABC network.
