ABC Will Open Forty Additional Stores on Sunday Over Labor Day Holiday Weekend

Richmond - The Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) will close all stores, regional offices and the central office in Richmond in observance of Labor Day on Monday, September 3.

Over the holiday weekend, ABC will open approximately 40 additional stores in Northern Virginia, Norfolk and Virginia Beach for business on Sunday, bringing the total to approximately 90 stores open to customers from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays in approved areas. ABC began opening stores on Sunday in 2004 after the Virginia General Assembly approved a new law that permitted Sunday distilled spirits sales in selected areas throughout the Commonwealth.
