ABC Special Agents Uncover Gallons of Moonshine in Suffolk

Special agents from the Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control's (ABC) Chesapeake Regional Enforcement Office, jointly working with the Suffolk Police Department, executed a search warrant this morning at approximately 10 a.m. on a property in the 2000 block of Carolina Road in Suffolk.

The search warrant was the result of an ongoing undercover investigation involving the selling of untaxed whiskey, commonly known as moonshine. During the search, ABC agents and law enforcement officers seized three gallons of moonshine, two firearms that were listed as stolen and numerous other bottles of alcoholic beverages.

Johnny L. Stallings and Catherine M. Hobson, both of the 2000 block of Carolina Road, were charged with possession of untaxed whiskey, a violation of Virginia Code 4.1-313. Arraignment will be in General District Court. Additional charges are pending.
