ABC Special Agent Inspection Leads to Several U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Arrests
A routine inspection of a temporary-licensed establishment conducted by a special agent with the Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) has resulted in several arrests by the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The Chesapeake Police Department also assisted with this case.
ABC Special Agent Joyce Reed was completing an inspection of a temporary license at El Parian Mexican Restaurant on the 1400 block of Mt. Pleasant Rd. in Chesapeake. During the inspection, it was discovered the manager had a false and illegal identification. The agent arrested Jose Guadalupe Martinez-Gonzalez, aka Martin Gonzalez. The U.S. ICE office was immediately notified and later arrested five other employees. The owner of the establishment, Jorge Fernandez, voluntarily surrendered the alcohol license on June 5, 2007.
