ABC Agents Seize Sales Records from the Junction Restaurant and Budda's Place

On April 10, 2008, special agents with the Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) Bureau of Law Enforcement executed search warrants at the Junction Restaurant and Budda's Place restaurant. The businesses are located in the 16900 block of Warwick Blvd, in the City of Newport News. Business records and computers were seized as part of an ongoing financial crime investigation.

Based on analysis of business records previously obtained by ABC, the Junction Restaurant and Budda's Place restaurant are suspected to have had sales that were not reported to the Virginia Department of Taxation, resulting in the possible embezzlement of sales taxes collected by the businesses on behalf of Taxation.

After review of the seized records, administrative and criminal charges may be placed against the business and its owners.
