Pamela O'Berry Evans Named Chair of the Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control

In accordance with the rotating board chair policy established under ABC's current board administration, the Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) is pleased to announce that Commissioner Pamela O'Berry Evans assumed the position of board chair as of April 1.

Evans received her undergraduate degree from Shippensburg University and is a graduate of American University Washington College of Law. She served as a commonwealth's attorney for Richmond for over seven years, and earned the rank of Deputy Commonwealth's Attorney. Most recently, she served as general counsel for the Richmond Police Department. Evans has been an at-large board member for the Legal Officer's Section of the International Association of Chiefs of Police. She resides in Chesterfield County.

Governor Timothy M. Kaine appointed O'Berry, along with Commissioners Susan R. Swecker and Esther H. Vassar in March 2006. Committed to leading ABC in all aspects of the agency's control/service/revenue mission, the board's focus will bring numerous benefits to ABC employees and the citizens of the Commonwealth.
