Day Spa License
Effective July 1, 2005, the Virginia ABC Board is authorized to issue a Day Spa license:
Fees
- License application fee $65.00 (application fee is non-refundable)
- State license fee $100
- Criminal history record check $20 each*
* The Board requires criminal history records under Section 4.1-222 for "the applicant, or if the applicant is a partnership or association, any partner or member thereof, or if the applicant is a corporation, any officer, director, or manager thereof or shareholder owning ten percent or more of its capital stock."
Definition and Privileges
"Day Spa" means any commercial establishment that offers to the public both massage therapy, performed by persons certified in accordance with § 54.1-3029, and barbering or cosmetology services performed by persons licensed in accordance with Chapter 7 (§ 54.1-700 et seq.) of Title 54.1. This license allows the consumption of lawfully acquired wine and beer by each customer of no more than two 5-ounce glasses of wine or one 12-ounce beer during each visit. The alcoholic beverages may not be sold and shall be inclusive in the total charge of the "Day Spa" services received.
