SWaM Certification and Registration Day
ABC will host the agency's first Certification and Registration Day for Small, Women- and Minority-owned (SWaM) business enterprises on Thursday, May 15, 2008 at the ABC Central Office, 2901 Hermitage Road, Richmond, VA 23220. Vendors may attend either a morning (8:30-11:30 a.m.) OR afternoon (12:30-3:30 p.m.) session.
The day will be devoted to assisting vendors - with on-site workshops from the Department of Minority Business Enterprises (DMBE), the Department of General Services (DGS) and the Department of Business Assistance (DBA). SWaM businesses will have the opportunity to certify with DMBE and register with the Commonwealth of Virginia's electronic procurement system (eVA).
This outreach effort is a result of Governor Timothy M. Kaine's Executive Order 33, designed to promote economic justice and eliminate impediments to a more equitable procurement process. The goal of this event is to increase the pool of businesses available for agencies, localities and other public bodies searching for SWaM business enterprises.
